Andy Quillen
Bio
Hi everyone, my name is Andy Quillen. I was introduced to the game at the age of 14, when I began working summers at a local 9-hole course. I loved everything about the game – the challenge of trying to master multiple skills of power and finesse, the solitary and mental aspect, the freedom and beauty of where and how you played it. The elements of fairness, integrity and honor, the acceptance of all ages and skill levels, and especially all the wonderful people who I’ve had the privlage of workng with, playing for and competing against in this…. ‘the greatest of all games”..
In the summer of 2020 I traveled to Ft Pierce, Florida and enrolled in the United States Golf Teaching Federation School. A USGTF Certification® cannot be obtained online. Each student must attend classes and have passing scores in the skills of:
- Swing Fundamentals
- Rules Exam
- Verbal – detecting swings flaws & corrective action
- PAT – Playing Ability Test (the “biggie”) one day, one time only event played on an 18-hole Championship course by USGA tournament rules. (Of the 13 students in my class, only myself, and two others obtained a full certification.)
Golf Career Highlights
Has 5 holes-in-one, 2 albatrosses, and several occasions where he “choked the neck off it” with just three holes left to play.
Has played as a low single-digit handicapper for almost 50 years
Competed at the highest level in over 200 regional amateur events
Ranked as one of the top ten local amateurs from 1992 to 1998
Has 30 wins and 75 top tens playing in junior, men’s, & senior events
Holds school record for most consecutive birdies in a round, at seven
Twice recorded 3 eagles in a single round during a local Senior event

Chris Woods, PGA

Bio
Born into an Army family in North Carolina, Chris Woods grew up living in ten different states and two countries. That unique upbringing helped shape his adaptable, outgoing personality and continues to influence his personalized approach to coaching. He believes every golfer learns differently and enjoys building relationships that help each student gain confidence and achieve lasting improvement.
Chris discovered his passion for golf at age 14 while caddying for his uncle, an experience that sparked a lifelong love for the game. He went on to compete on mini tours throughout Florida and Arizona, playing alongside future PGA Tour professionals such as Bubba Watson and Boo Weekley. His competitive experience gives him first hand insight into the demands of high-level golf while reinforcing the importance of strong fundamentals.
After graduating from Milligan University in December 2013, Chris entered the PGA Professional Program and has dedicated his career to teaching and growing the game. Since becoming a PGA Professional, he has been deeply involved in junior golf development through First Tee, PGA Jr. League, and a variety of instructional programs at his club. He has helped lead four State Championship PGA Jr. League teams and takes great pride in watching young golfers develop not only their skills but also a lifelong love for the game.
Today, Chris works with golfers of all ages and abilities—from first-time players learning the fundamentals to competitive juniors, collegiate athletes, and accomplished players looking to refine their technique and lower their scores. As the swing coach for his alma mater, Milligan University, he enjoys helping competitive golfers perform at their highest level while also making the game approachable and enjoyable for beginners. His teaching philosophy focuses on understanding each golfer’s goals, building sound fundamentals, and creating a clear path for long-term improvement. Whether someone is picking up a club for the first time or preparing for tournament competition, Chris is committed to helping every student play better and enjoy golf more.
Chris and his wife, Ashlee, live in Johnson City, Tennessee, with their son, Blair Charles, and twins, LB and Daisy. They are active members of Harvest Community Church.
